STANDING TOGETHER FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES | DONATE TO THE LEGAL FUND
Urgent Appeal
URGENT APPEAL >> CASE IN COURT
21st & 22nd APRIL 2026
Back a landmark case with
a real chance to protect
rural futures across Britain.
This is a community funded legal case and we need your support now more than ever as we approach our court dates.
The High Court and Court of Appeal have granted permission for a Judicial Review against GreenGen Cymru, to address what we say is the unlawful entry onto land across hundreds of Welsh farms and businesses, using statutory powers and the unlawful gathering of our data, and the sharing that our data with Bute Energy, their parent company, to assist in their Wind Farm proposals.
This case is a legal first, which will help determine how the statutory powers developers use should operate in practice.
We have the evidence and testimonies of 500+ farmers, landowners and occupiers, directly impacted by GreenGen Cymru’s conduct over the past 2+ years. We know that so many others across Wales and England are facing similar issues. This case stands to help us all.
We want to call out unreasonable and in-appropriate conduct under state-backed licence and stop statutory powers being used to ride roughshod over rural communities.
We want clear guidelines for developers using these powers. We want communities protected from unlawful and intimidatory behaviour. We want our personal data to stop being shared with others without our consent.
This case is not about the infrastructure proposals, it is about how private companies, acting under State licence, are treating private individuals.
"They did not expect our rural communities to rise, organise, and force these serious questions into the High Court. People were meant to feel isolated, pressured, and too small to resist. Instead, we stood together. I am hugely proud to be part of a community refusing to be bullied, and helping to set a clearer standard for what is fair, lawful and acceptable behaviour in developments of this scale."
- Dyfan Walters, Llandovery
"When private companies, licenced by the State, rely on statutory powers to enter land and property to gather data for their private developments, those powers of entry must be used fairly, lawfully, proportionately, and with respect for the people affected and the land."
- Natalie Barstow, Edw Valley
